life begets art

Many many moons ago, Derek Burgess met Russell Ellis in South Texas. On Padre Island, they found they shared a passion for pulling in large sharks from the beach. Soon after, they realized they had more in common, as both had played bass for years in bands in Austin, Dallas and the surrounding areas. When a particularly busy sharkfishing season gave Russ a temporary disability with the tendons in his playing finger (aka sharkfinger), they did not let that stop them from writing music. Years passed and they played a lot of local shows with some amazing musicians. In 2024, technology had progressed enough where they could make new music on their own terms, from their own homes. Dawn Patrol is the first release from these efforts, soon to be followed by themed albums set to drop in 2025. Their bass-centric style and influences from the Pixies to Jaco Pastorius creates a style of music that's hard to pin down. And that's the way they like it.
